Congress Party Deal with Sharmila & Tummala: A New Strategy!

In a series of noteworthy political developments in Telangana’s Khammam district, the landscape is undergoing significant changes as the assembly elections draw near. Thummala Nageswara Rao, previously associated with BRS, has taken a surprising step by leaving the party and reportedly preparing to join the Congress party. This move comes amidst evolving dynamics in the state’s politics.

The formal induction of Thummala into the Congress is expected to take place by September 6th. Simultaneously, YSRTP leader YS Sharmila held discussions with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, hinting at a potential merger between YSRTP and the Congress in the coming time.

Sharmila has openly stated that her conversations with Sonia and Rahul centered around issues in Telangana. Her conditions were presented, including a demand for 5 assembly seats for her followers during the upcoming Telangana elections. There is also speculation that Sharmila herself might contest from the Paleru constituency.

Thummala Nageswara Rao’s entry into the Congress has brought about significant changes in Khammam’s political equations. There’s anticipation that he could contest from the Khammam Assembly segment in the forthcoming elections.

The political clout of BRS in Khammam has dwindled since the 2018 elections, where they secured only one seat in the district. The party is now significantly less influential in the region as a result of Thummala’s resignation from BRS, leaving it in a vulnerable position. These political changes have the ability to alter the political climate of the region and are positioned to influence the upcoming assembly elections.
