PM Modi’s speeches are always filled with punches and humor. Ever since the lockdown, Modi addressed the nation on numerous occasions. Today also he addressed the nation and when people came to know about Modi’s address, there was huge anticipation as he is addressing the nation for the second time after the Chinese aggression at Leh border.
Many expected Modi to give a strong warning to China and then talk about coronavirus lockdown and unlockdown. But Modi surprised all by not even making any reference to China. He instead hailed the honest taxpayers and also farmers. He extended PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) till the end of November under which free ration will be provided to the poor.
The existing National Food Security Act provides 5kg of foodgrain per person monthly at a subsidized rate of Rs 2-3 per kg to the country’s poor. Under the PMGKY, the ration quota was enhanced by another 5 kg for free for the next three months in March.
Many people expressed their disappointment as Modi did not talk about Chinese incursions and also rise in fuel prices. They felt that for these issues he need not have addressed the nation as everyone is well of the scares of the coronavirus.
