YCP senior leader and minister Dharmana Prasada Rao once again made sensational comments regarding the capital. He said “Visakhapatnam is going to be a full-fledged capital. Visakhapatnam is the only city eligible for full capital. If not now, then when? People of Uttar Andhra will have to agitate to make Vizag the capital,” said Minister Dharmana.
And what about Amaravati and Kurnool? They are nominal capitals, said Minister Dharmana. Amaravati is only Kamramavati in YCP’s eyes anyway. It may not even be given capital status. There is no need to tell how YCP took revenge on Amaravati. YCP describes Amaravati as a graveyard and a desert.
Leaving aside the Amaravati issue, what is the real situation in Kurnool? Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy says that Kurnool is the judicial capital. But, it is surprising that Minister Dharmana is describing the legal capital as the “Uthutthi” capital.
Actually, Visakhapatnam has everything. Visakhapatnam is a city that has all the qualifications to become the capital. But Chandrababu’s government made Amaravati the capital instead of Visakhapatnam. YCP also supported Amaravati being in opposition at that time. Once the capital of the state is decided, if you change it as you like, it is the state that will lose. But that concern does not exist within the YCP Government.
