CBN’s Communication Cut: Reducing ‘Mulaqats’?

Officials in Rajamahendravaram Central Jail have reduced the number of’mulaqats’ (meetings) for TDP supremo and former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu from two to one per day. Raising concerns and speculations about their motive. The officials claim that this decision is aimed at reducing inconvenience for other inmates in the jail who had been affected by the frequent meetings with Naidu.

Previously, lawyers were allowed to meet Naidu twice a day, but now they can speak to him directly only once. This move has sparked speculation, as political analysts suggest that it might be an attempt to limit Naidu’s ability to pass on directions to the party leaders and lawyers regarding their future action plan. Such communication restrictions could potentially impact the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

The TDP is also striving to regain lost ground in Telangana in the upcoming elections, and there are rumors of a possible understanding between rival parties, the BRS and YCP, which may have influenced this decision to curtail Naidu’s communication.

The claim of inconvenience to jail inmates is seen by some as a pretext to diminish sympathy for the party. In recent days, TDP leaders have organized various protests to draw public attention to what they term the ‘illegal confinement’ of their party leader. The true objectives of the ruling dispensation behind this decision will become clearer in the days to come.
