‘Udvegam’ Movie Review & Rating…

G. Shankar, L. The film ‘Udvegam’ is produced by Madhu Nirman and released under the banners of Kala Srishti International and Manideep Entertainment. Mahipal Reddy directed this court drama starring Trigun in the lead role. In this film, Deepsika acted as the heroine while Srikanth Iyengar, Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, Suresh and others played key roles. The film, which caught the attention of the audience with the promotional images, entered the theaters with good expectations. Let’s know how this movie is…

Story: Mahindra (Trigun), a lawyer by profession, deals with criminal cases in his own style. Girlfriend Ammulu (Deepshika) is also a major part of Mahindra’s life, who considers legal profession as his life. While Mahindra’s life is going smoothly, a gang rape case comes to him for investigation. At first Mahindra refuses to take up the case.

But later he takes up the case for some reasons. Mahindra steps in to plead for the accused Sampath who is A2 in that case. On the other hand Prasad (Srikanth Iyengar) pleads the case from the girl’s side. What kind of problems did Mahindra face in his personal and professional life due to this case? How did Mahindra deal with this gang rape case? Will he be able to get Sampath out of the case with evidence? What happened in the end? is the story.

Analysis: The director has very cleverly crafted the movie to hook the audience with crispy run time and exciting twists. Although some scenes are not up to the mark, the twists and pace of the story keep the audience connected to the film and travel with great interest till the end. Udvegam Cinema is a perfect court drama with a blend of crime and emotions. Usually in this type of court drama movies, we see the hero arguing the case on behalf of the victim girl.

But the novel point here is that the hero pleads the case on behalf of the accused A2 instead of on behalf of the victim girl. On the one hand, the audience wants justice for the girl and on the other hand, the hero wants to win. It gives a new feeling while watching the movie. The same excitement is a plus for the movie. The movie starts off a bit slow but as the story progresses, it gets the audience hooked. From 20 minutes later, the movie maintained the same tempo till the end without going down anywhere. Especially the court room scenes and twists are very impressive.

The scenes between Srikanth Iyengar and Trigun are amazing. Also, the scenes between Trigun and Deepshika have been well worked out as they are close to reality. Compared to real life, the audience is more likely to connect with those scenes. Udvegam, a court room drama with compelling story lines and unexpected twists, will surely entertain you.

Who did it... Trigun’s screen presence is good. Lived as a young lawyer. He has also shown great maturity in acting. Deepshika has acted well to suit her role. She impressed in the emotional scenes with Trigun. As usual Paruchuri Gopalakrishna shows his mark as Trigun Guru. Senior actor Suresh as the judge gave good laughs. As a lawyer, Srikanth Iyengar once again impressed with his unique performance. Senior actor Sivakrishna also did full justice to the police character he played.

Technicians: Director Mahipal Reddy has presented this court drama in a neat and engaging manner without any diversions. With his own screenplay and narration, he made the audience travel with the story till the end. G.V. Ajay Kumar’s camera work is good. Jasveen Prabhu’s editing could have been better. Karthik Kodagandla has done a decent job as the music director. Construction values are high.
