A controversy has arisen following an interaction between senior Malayalam actor and former BJP Rajya Sabha MP, Suresh Gopi, and a female journalist. The incident occurred during a press event in Kozhikode when Gopi placed his hand on the journalist’s shoulder twice while responding to her questions.
As the journalist posed her query, he placed his hand on her shoulder and referred to her as “mole” (daughter) while beginning his response. Subsequently, she withdrew and presented another question, to which he once again rested his hand on her shoulder. At this point, she pushed his hand away.
In response to the incident, Gopi issued an apology on Saturday, asserting that his actions were intended to be affectionate. He took to Facebook to convey his apology, stating, “Her feelings should be respected. I tender an apology towards her if she had felt badly about my behavior, Sorry..”.
The journalist, however, expressed her distress over Gopi’s actions and mentioned her intention to pursue legal action. She conveyed that she was deeply affected by the entire episode.
