Ram Mohan Naidu, part of the influential Kinjarapu family and a rising star in the Telugu Desam Party, has made a significant impact by strongly advocating for the interests of his state in Parliament. He entered politics following his father’s passing, winning two consecutive terms as an MP from Srikakulam with impressive victories, notably in 2014 with a substantial margin of 127,576 votes.
His success stands out as one of the three seats secured by the TDP during that election, despite strong opposition. Now, focused on securing a hat trick of wins in the upcoming elections, Ram Mohan Naidu faces a challenge as the YCP leadership considers fielding a new candidate to disrupt his momentum.
Reports suggest they might nominate Srikakulam Zilla Parishad Chairperson Piriya Vijaya Sairaj, aiming to leverage the ‘woman card’ and ‘BC card’ to their advantage, along with potential social factors. The YCP believes that a strong candidate like Sairaj could narrow the gap and potentially defeat Ram Mohan Naidu, especially considering the close margin in the previous election against Duvvada Srinivas.
The YCP is actively seeking credible contenders to challenge Ram Mohan Naidu, viewing it as a strategic move to sway the election in their favor. The prospect of fielding Sairaj against him reflects their intent to capitalize on various aspects, potentially posing a significant challenge to his bid for a third consecutive term.
