As the Telangana Assembly elections gain momentum, the political landscape is heating up with candidates vying for positions. Notably, former Maoist Gazarla Ashok, also known as Aitu, has emerged as a potential contender for an assembly seat in the joint Warangal district.
Telangana is gearing up for assembly elections, with the official commencement of the election schedule. The incumbent BRS leader, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, aims for a third consecutive victory, while the Congress is determined to make a comeback to power. The BJP seeks an opportunity to govern, and the BRS has already announced its candidates, with the Congress set to follow suit.
However, the Hastam party is deeply involved in the candidate selection process, and intriguing leaks suggest a new entrant in the joint Warangal district constituency. Ghazarla Ashok, a former Maoist with a significant role in the state committee, spent two decades in the Maoist movement before transitioning to civilian life in 2016.
Recently, Ashok publicly expressed his intention to contest the upcoming election on the Congress ticket. He voiced concerns about the alleged oppression by the BJP and BRS, emphasizing that development could only be achieved through the Congress. These political developments have stirred conversations and added intrigue to the race in this particular constituency, making it a focal point of political discussions in the region.
