Multistarrer movies existed for quite a long time in Tollywood back in the time of NTR, ANR and Krishna. The leading superstars of that time shared screen spaces without any egos. However, multistarrer films slowly started to die out with the rise in commercial cinema during the Chiranjeevi era.
Though the trend is on the rise again, there weren’t multistarrer films in Telugu for several decades. The movie lovers of the 80s and 90s have eagerly waited for a multistarrer featuring Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, and Balakrishna but nothing of that sort happened. Legendary director K Raghavendra Rao wanted his 100th movie to be a multistarrer featuring Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Venkatesh but couldn’t materialize due to some reasons.
Though the first-generation superstars NTR, and ANR acted in several movies together, their successors Balakrishna, and Nagarjuna haven’t shared the screen space. Filmmakers tried to rope them in for the remake of Gundamma Katha, later Suresh Babu approached them for the remake of the Malayalam movie Christian Brothers. Though both actors were ready to act together, the movies never took off due to some unsaid reasons. Hopefully, both the senior stars will come together for a movie in the future.
