Director-producer Bheemagani Sudhakar Goud, under the banners of Sri Lakshmi Educational Charitable Trust and Santhosh Films, has previously created several award-winning children’s films that have earned both critical acclaim and audience appreciation. His latest short film, “Aapadbhandhavudu”, is based on the life of Sri Penchal Reddy and is produced by D. Leelavathi.
The film stars Penchal Reddy, Sudhakar Goud, Jhansi, Pratima, and Nageswara Rao in key roles. A press meet for the film was held today at the Hyderabad Film Chamber.
Director Bheemagani Sudhakar Goud said “Balancing business, family, and social service, Sri Penchal Reddy has earned recognition as a true servant of society. I’ve known him for many years. As filmmakers, we draw inspiration from real lives around us.
When I first asked him about making a short film based on his life, he humbly declined, saying there are many others more deserving. But during my last attempt, his silence felt like consent – and that’s when I started work on ‘Aapadbhandhavudu’.
Remarkably, he agreed to act in the film himself, and I portrayed the role of his friend. The film is presented as a biopic, portrayed in a fresh, live-action style with real-life characters.
I’ve always believed that today’s children are tomorrow’s citizens. That’s why I’ve made several children’s films like Aditya Creative Genius, Vikki’s Dream, Dr. Gautam, and Abhinav. My latest kids’ film is Master Sankalp.
We are preparing to release ‘Aapadbhandhavudu’ on September 5th. Many elderly people today are left abandoned in old-age homes. If they use a portion of their earnings for social service instead of only leaving it to heirs, they’ll experience real fulfillment.
Penchal Reddy garu is one such person who attained that inner satisfaction. We’ve screened ‘Aapadbhandhavudu’ at various institutions and received positive feedback. This film will spark social awareness and a spirit of service in society.
When people like Penchal Reddy step forward, the nation improves. Through charity, he’s supported poor students, underprivileged women, and the needy. If governments of AP, Telangana, and India approve screening this film through voluntary organizations, we can instill the values of service in many.
On our banners, we could’ve made a commercial film, made money. But we felt it was more important to create a meaningful film that benefits society.”
Seva Ratna Sri Penchal Reddy said “I come from an agricultural background. I started my career with a small job at GVK company and slowly rose through the ranks. I now dedicate 50% of my earnings to charitable services.
These service activities give me immense inner satisfaction. I support schools, colleges, temples, and senior citizens.
When director Sudhakar Goud proposed making a film about my life, I initially refused. But his persistence convinced me. My wife, Leelavathi, produced the film.
I’m thankful to Sudhakar Goud garu for bringing my life story to the screen. I hope ‘Aapadbhandhavudu’ will inspire viewers and ignite a desire to serve society.”
