Recent developments in Telangana politics, particularly in reference to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) there were several instances when everyone believed that BJP and TRS are working together for future elections. Some of the incidents like BJP supporting Telangana in the Supreme Court over High Court division case and TRS not openly criticizing BJP gave the required boost to the rumors.
Also, addressing a recent public interaction Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao said that ‘one should only vote for BJP if they feel that BJP can form the government in Telangana’. The statement does not criticize nor support BJP openly, such has been KCR’s stance on his relationship with the NDA government. It also paved the way to think of post-electoral alliance between TRS and BJP.
Putting an end to such allegations and several others, TRS leader K T Rama Rao and the Son of Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao said his party will not support BJP under any circumstances. “We are not going to the elections with BJP as an ally and will not partner with them even after the elections. This is for sure and there will not be any change in our stance”, KTR said.
However, when asked about TRS supporting Third Front or Federal Front, KTR said that TRS is of the view that both Congress and BJP have failed at the national level. “We will definitely play our role in national politics but as of now, we are only concerned about the Assembly elections. Time has not come to comment on the Third Front yet”.
It is clear that TRS will not support Congress or BJP in the Parliamentary elections but will actually try to carve a third alternative with like-minded states. But, will TRS change stance like it did in merging with Congress party and making Dalit candidate as the Chief Minister in 2014?. Only time has to answer.
