Chandrababu to set up Kadapa Steel Plant; says no more waiting

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced a good news to the residents of Kadapa district. The TDP Boss said that his government will lay the foundation stone for the proposed Kadapa Steel plant on December 27.

The announcement comes after the end of a one-month deadline given by Chandrababu Naidu to the NDA government over making a call on the Steel plant. According to the AP Reorganisation Act, it is the responsibility of the Centre to set up a steel plant in Kadapa district. However, the Centre has been munching time citing feasibility reports.

Chandrababu’s decision to go alone without Centre’s aid had definitely surprised all. “We have waited for four long years. They (NDA) are playing vendetta politics and TDP will not fear such attempts. They are not even releasing the Rs.3100 crores that we have spent on Polavaram”, Chandrababu said. “We are not going to wait for anyone. The public will decide their fate in 2019”, Babu added.

YSRCP, on the other hand, criticised Babu for using Kadapa steel plant for electoral gains. “We have been asking the CM on Steel plant for the past four years and Mr.Babu has never given a positive note despite being part of the NDA. Now, in the last minute, he is coming forward with foundation stone laying ceremony just for the sake of the coming elections. The CM must answer from where will he bring funds and by when his government will complete the project”, YSRCP Spokesperson said.

It is interesting as to how Chandrababu will meet with the expenditure for Steel plant. Sources said that the AP CM would start the project thereby, forcing the Centre to allocate funds as per the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. Also, there is a rumour that Chandrababu is confident of NDA losing power at the Centre in 2019, which according to him will pave way for timely funds disbursal to complete the project on time. Whatever be the case, Chandrababu is going aggressively against the Centre notwithstanding the drawbacks. To the unaware, Kadapa is the home district of opposition leader YS Jagan. Is Chandrababu’s move a plan to woo the Kadapa voters?.
