Ever since Somu Veerraju has made it clear that his government or his party BJP government will develop Amaravathi as the capital, there has been a debate raging about the issue of Andhra Pradesh capital.
While the announcement did generate a lot of intrigue and brought back smiles on the faces of many who invested around Amaravathi, the YSRCP has expressed through its digital media wing today that “it will not be changing the capital”.
Yes, it won’t be changing the capital, but there is a little catch here. It will not change the legislative capital of Andhra Pradesh. And this is exactly what the YSRCP has been prodding forth ever since they were voted to power.
The social media post following the sudden visit of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to New Delhi and his meeting the union Home Minister made headlines. Immediately after the visit, there was no formal announcement made as to what transpired between Shah and Jagan, either by BJP or YSRCP.
But this new message has made it clear that YS Jagan did indeed discuss the contentious issue of three capitals. So, it is now clear that Andhra Pradesh will indeed have three capitals and that Vizag and Kurnool will be the other two functional capitals.
According to YSRCP insiders, YS Jagan also requested Shah to push for the shifting of High Court to Kurnool at the earliest.
YSRCP parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy and other MPs P Mithun Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, V Prabhakar Reddy and M Bharat, were also present at the meeting.
It has to be noted that Jagan had met up with Amit Shah twice in the past three months. Jagan’s counterpart KCR also dashed off to New Delhi and got to meet the PM, though the details of his meetings too have not been revealed till now.
But YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had his mission accomplished. And it will indeed be three capitals for Andhra Pradesh.
