The ongoing protests in Andhra Pradesh for the continuation of Amaravathi as the capital is sparking various debates among people and analysts. Political experts and analysts are questioning the demand of Amaravathi people for the continuation of AP capital as if the entire state’s revenue is coming from the region.
They are questioning why people are adamant in having Amaravathi as the capital when it is not getting any revenue unlike Hyderabad, Bengaluru,Chennai and Mumbai which are generating 60-70% of the state revenue.
Everyone knows that Amaravathi was made the capital of the state after the formation of the new state by the then TDP government headed by Chandra Babu Naidu and not the already developed city. Any place if made the capital with the passage of time generates revenue but till that time why should other places source revenue for its development.
Experts opine that instead of that by generating jobs across the cities, one can work for the overall development of the state. For the construction of new capital one needs Rs 1.30 lakhs crores. If the same is spent on various cities, many places would become smart cities. They can then generate revenue like Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra. Till sometime back Abids and Koti used to be the shopping centres in Hyderabad but now the city developed and there are shopping malls across the city and state of Telangana.
What problem has Chandra Babu if the entire state develops and why is he only longing for the development of Amaravathi. Did TDP leaders invested in Amaravathi. Many TDP sources are opposing Chandra Babu and Lokesh’s stance.
