In a year filled with death and calamities, here comes yet another sad news for Bollywood. Asif Basra who has been seen in some interesting films with leading stars of Bollywood was found dead in a private accommodation in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. The 53-year-old character actor was last known for his performance in Tashkent Files.
Expressing shock over the unexpected death of Asif Basra, Tashkent Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri said he did not notice anything ‘out of normal’ during the shoot. However, he added that Basra was a bit miffed with the ways of Bollywood.
Kareena Kapoor Khan who acted with him in Jab We Met took to social media to express her shock. She expressed her heartfelt condolences to his family and added ‘rest in peace Asif Basra’. Manoj Bajpai too expressed his deep regrets saying he had shot with the departed just before the lockdown. Shraddha Kapoor who acted with him in Ek Villian also expressed her grief by posting a picture of the late actor with a broken heart emoji.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui too took to twitter to express his thoughts and said the industry had lost a gem of an actor. Mentioning that he was a good friend, Siddiqui said the incident was rather unbelievable.
Anushka Sharma, who produced the web series Pataal Lok, which had Asif Basra as part of the cast also left her condolences.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas stated that it was a loss of a talented and versatile actor.
