In this year’s Telangana election, the Congress party saw a strong wave of support leading them to power across the state. However, one of the senior leaders, Jagga Reddy, couldn’t capitalize on this wave as he lost from the Sangareddy constituency. Reddy has analyzed the election trends in Sangareddy and made a striking statement.
According to Reddy, on November 28, the Telangana Intelligence department reportedly informed KCR that Congress was set to win around 80-82 seats. Allegedly, KCR changed his campaign strategy on November 29 and 30, focusing on specific MLA seats, including Sangareddy, Zaheerabad, and Patancheruvu, which he believed Congress would win.
It’s claimed that KCR directed his party to disburse significant amounts, around 25-30 crores rupees, to leaders in these constituencies, who then allegedly distributed money per vote, ranging from 2000 to 5000 rupees. Jagga Reddy asserted that his own survey reports on November 28 had assured him of victory in Sangareddy with a substantial lead of 16,000 votes.
However, the sudden influx of money by BRS (a group aligned with KCR’s party) on November 29 and during the polling day, November 30, changed the entire scenario. Reddy suspects that KCR deliberately injected money into these constituencies, altering the election dynamics overnight. This assertion by a senior politician like Jagga Reddy holds significance, implying that sudden financial maneuvers might have influenced the election outcome, leading to his unexpected defeat in Sangareddy by approximately 9000 votes.
