Amidst recent political developments, speculation arose when TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu was invited to Delhi for a meeting with Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah. Now, the BJP has extended an invitation to the TDP to participate in the BJP Allies (NDA) meeting at Ashoka Hotel in Delhi on the 18th of this month, indicating that TDP’s joining the NDA alliance is highly likely.
Union Minister of State for Social and Legal Affairs, Narayana Swamy, has announced that the BJP will contest the 2024 general elections in Andhra Pradesh alongside its allies, including the TDP. Speaking during his visit to the district, Sri Sathya Sai paid tribute to Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Madakasira and stated, “In the 2024 general elections, we are going to the polls with parties like TDP, which distanced themselves from BJP due to various reasons, along with the BJP’s allies.
Hope that TDP will work with us again in AP. Daggubati Purandeswari has been appointed as the president to strengthen the BJP in AP.” The decision now rests with the TDP. While the people of the state may harbor resentment towards the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu believes that cooperation from the Center is necessary to defeat the ruling YCP. However, aligning with the BJP carries the risk of alienating Muslims, Christians, and marginalized sections of society.
Nara Lokesh has been attempting to garner support from various groups through youth processions, while Pawan Kalyan has been engaging with Muslims, Christians, and BC groups. Many view the potential alliance with the BJP as a strategy to oust the YCP, rather than a reflection of shared values. With the Union Minister of State expressing their willingness to work with the TDP, it appears that the TDP, BJP, and Janasena are preparing to collaborate in the upcoming elections.
