Political Uproar Over TTD Board Choices

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent appointment of 24 members to the TTD Board has sparked controversy, as six out of these appointees belong to the Reddy community. One of these individuals is Penaka Sarath Chandra Reddy, who was involved in the Delhi Liquor Scam and later turned into an approver. Notably, Sarath Chandra Reddy is the brother of Rohit Reddy, who is connected to Vijayasai Reddy’s family.

Sarath Chandra Reddy’s current bail status has fueled objections to his appointment, with critics arguing that this move compromises the sanctity of the Temple by involving politics. The opposition party, TDP, is preparing for a legal battle against this appointment, asserting that Sarath Chandra Reddy’s involvement in the scam, even as an approver, should disqualify him as per the relevant Act governing TTD member appointments.

It’s noteworthy that Sarath Chandra Reddy had previously been appointed as the President of the Andhra Cricket Association after Jagan assumed power. The TDP sees targeting Sarath Chandra Reddy as an opportunity to expose the Jagan Government and undermine Vijayasai Reddy.

Consequently, they plan to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in court next week, aiming to achieve both objectives simultaneously. This controversy highlights the intersection of politics, legality, and the management of religious institutions, stirring debate and legal action in the process.
