Pawan Kalyan, the popular actor-turned-politician, faced a significant setback in the 2019 elections when he contested in two seats and lost from both Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram. This defeat was not only a big humiliation for him but also a massive setback for his political party, Janasena.
Determined to secure a victory and make his mark in the upcoming assembly elections, Pawan Kalyan has been actively strategizing his moves. Janasena had initially identified six constituencies for Pawan Kalyan’s candidacy, namely Gajuwaka, Bhimavaram, Pitapuram, Tirupati, Kakinada Rural, and Tangella Uday Srinivas has recently been announced as the Incharge for Pitapuram.
Tangella Uday Srinivas is a prominent figure who owns Tea Time, a major tea franchise business across the country. He has been a significant financial supporter of the Janasena party and is the owner of the Varahi vehicle associated with Pawan Kalyan. In a surprising move, Uday Srinivas has been nominated to contest from Pitapuram on the Janasena ticket, ruling out the possibility of Pawan Kalyan himself running from that constituency.
With Pitapuram no longer an option, Pawan Kalyan’s focus now narrows down to the remaining five constituencies, all of which are Kapu dominated areas. These areas present fair chances for Pawan Kalyan and his party to secure electoral success. Pawan Kalyan seeks to increase his prospects of winning and getting a seat in the assembly by carefully choosing candidates and carefully positioning himself.
It is yet unclear how Pawan Kalyan’s political ploys and the fervent support of his party will affect the electoral environment as the elections get near. The impending elections in Gajuwaka, Bhimavaram, Tirupati, and Kakinada Rural will be extremely important in defining Pawan Kalyan and Janasena’s future course.
