The centenary birth celebrations of SR NTR have been a highly- discussed topic among the Telugu community, as he is revered not just by his fans but by many others as well. However, senior character artist Kalyani made a controversial remark about SR NTR which has caused quite a stir.
Kalyani, who is popularly known as Karate Kalyani and is a member of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), spoke about the proposed statue of NTR in Khammam, which was to depict him in the avatar of Lord Sri Krishna. She stated that comparing NTR to Lord Krishna was a foolish act and that it belittled Lord Krishna to compare him to NTR.
As a result of her comments, Kalyani is now facing disciplinary action from MAA. The association’s president, Manchu Vishnu, has sent her a show cause notice, questioning how an actress and member of MAA could make such comments against a legendary personality like NTR, who is a pioneer of Tollywood. Kalyani has been given three days to respond, failing which she may face disciplinary action for her actions.
