As the Telangana assembly elections draw near, the BJP is going all out to improve its performance from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Seizing on the anti-incumbency mood against the ruling BRS party and the Congress’ trust deficit, the BJP sees a promising opportunity.
The party is strategically targeting various caste groups to secure their support. By pledging to appoint a BC (Backward Class) chief minister if elected, the BJP aims to captivate the imagination of BC communities. Notably, communities like Mudiraj and Munnuru Kapu seem to be shifting towards the BJP, according to political analysts. Key announcements by Modi regarding Madiga reservation categorization and women’s reservations are also attracting these groups.
Several leaders, including Boora Narsaiah Goud and Nandeeswar Goud, are actively engaging with the Goud community. Simultaneously, figures like Dr K Laxman, Dharmapuri Aravind, and Bandi Sanjay are emerging as representatives of the Munnuru Kapu community, especially influential in certain districts.
Furthermore, the BJP is eyeing alliances for added support. A collaboration with the Jana Sena is expected to sway Seemandhra settlers in GHMC areas and Nizamabad. Expanding their reach, the party aims to connect with voters from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh descent living in the state’s border areas. Leaders from these regions are set to campaign for the BJP.
