The Telangana government’s construction of a costly new secretariat in Hyderabad has become a prominent government infrastructure project in the state. However, the spotlight has now turned to the party level, as the allocation of land for BRS’s new office in Kokapet faces court scrutiny.
BRS sought to establish an impressive party office on an 11-acre plot in Hyderabad’s bustling Kokapet area. However, the high court intervened just as preparations were underway. The court issued a notice to the Telangana government, questioning the allocation of the 11-acre land to BRS for a mere Rs 3 crores, significantly lower than the estimated market value of Rs 50 crores in the area.
The notice stemmed from a petition filed against the land allocation, which alleged that the ruling party had been granted land worth Rs 50 crores for a nominal price. Now, the government must respond to the court and address the concerns raised regarding the apparent undervaluation of the land in a prime location like Kokapet.
This development has attracted considerable attention, given the earlier controversy surrounding the Telangana government’s expensive new secretariat construction. It raises questions of fairness and transparency in government decisions and their potential implications for public trust.
