Byreddy Siddharth Reddy’s Risky Proposition?

Byreddy Siddharth Reddy emerged as a dynamic figure, backed by the YSR Congress, before the 2019 elections, effectively captivating the youth with his eloquence. His appeal harmonized with the surge in Jagan’s popularity at the time. However, as anti-incumbency sentiments escalated post-2019, his own popularity dwindled.

Byreddy, who hails from Nandikotkur, an SC-reserved constituency, held a nominated position, though he expressed discontentment with this role. He now aspires to transition to the Panyam constituency in 2024, a stronghold historically for the Congress and now the YSR Congress. The potential shift is being facilitated by Jagan’s efforts.

Panyam has primarily been dominated by the Congress and the YSR Congress, with the TDP winning only twice in its inception (1983 and 1989). Katasani Ramabhupal Reddy, the current MLA, has triumphed here multiple times. However, Jagan aims to relocate Katasani to the Nandhyala MP seat in 2024, allowing Byreddy to contest from Panyam.

Katasani’s preference, though, leans towards securing the Panyam seat for his son, Katasani Narasimha Reddy, which has prompted local discussions. The constituency is known for factionalism, making some locals cautious about thrusting a political novice like Byreddy into the contest against the influential Gouru family of the TDP. This move is seen by many as a substantial political gamble.
