Academy Insults Indian Oscar Winner

There’s every reason for the Indians to celebrate as two Indian films, Naatu Naatu song from RRR and The Elephant Whisperers. A short film by Guneet Monga and Kartiki Gonsalves, won Oscars. However, some netizens were angered by the organizers of the Academy Awards for cutting off Guneet Monga’s acceptance speech.

Typically, winners are given 45 seconds for their speeches at the Oscars. Kartiki used 43 seconds to express her gratitude and advocate for the natural world, indigenous communities, and coexistence. But when Guneet tried to speak, the music started playing to signal the end of her allotted time. This angered netizens who discovered that other winners were allowed to go beyond the 45-second limit, such as Charles Mackesy and Matthew Freud for Best Animated Short.

Twitter users deemed this treatment insulted Indians and called for an immediate protest. They believe such behavior should not be tolerated.
