Below is the picture of Arnab Goswami after being released from Taloja Jail. Earlier today, the Supreme Court ordered the release of the Republic TV’s editor-in-chief and other co-accused on interim bail in an abetment to suicide case.
The Apex court pointed out that the Bombay court was in error in denying bail to Mr. Goswami. It is also commented that it will be a “travesty of justice” if personal liberty is curtailed.
After the bail was granted to Mr. Goswami, a section of media celebrated as if a freedom fighter was released from jail or a Military personnel captured by the enemy country was let free.
Looks like Mr. Goswami is unaware of the fact, the same law of land that allowed the possibility of his bail has also been used to arrest him and the same law of land allowed Mr. Goswami to go unchecked on his prime time show.
So it goes without saying there are checks and balances in Judiciary for administering justice. It is Goswami to think if there are any checks and balances for the shows and rhetoric that goes on his show.
Arnab Goswami, was arrested by Alibaug police in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on November 4 in connection with the suicide of architect-interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother in 2018 over alleged non-payment of dues by companies of the accused.
