Can Sonia Gandhi win it for T-Congress?

With the poll day approaching, Telangana’s election fever is gradually moving towards the last phase – the most intense and busiest time of a politician’s life. This is the phase which may give an edge to a candidate over the other if planned strategically. Hence, every party will try its best to woo the voters with star campaigners including actors…as in elections, the last impression is the best impression!

For the Indian National Congress, Sonia Gandhi is the key face and the much-awaited meeting is going to be held on November 23 at Medchal. The meeting plays an important role for the Congress. It is expected to boost the morale of the party workers to work harder while driving the sentiment of “The lady who gave Telangana” to the public.

State Congress Working President Revanth Reddy has already made huge arrangements for the meeting and the local Congress unit has submitted a list of 40 Star campaigners to EC, who are expected to attend the meeting. The list includes all the senior leaders from other states and actor Vijaya Shanti, Nagma and Kushboo besides cricket Azharuddin. Sources said that prominent leaders and actors will also tour key places of Telangana in the coming days.

Strategically, Congress is focusing on popularising Sonia Gandhi as the ‘giver of Telangana State’. This might work well for Congress, which is still reeling under pressure on surveys despite forming Mahakootami. Revanth Reddy had also urged people to vote for the lady who gave Telangana..citing it as a gratitude from the people of the State.

As of now, surveys are still not in favor of Congress or the Mahakootami. There are a few loopholes in the Congress party which might work against them in the elections. Hopefully, the huge meeting at Medchal may address them giving the required boost to the party. It is the first time that we will be seeing Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the same stage in Telangana…seems like Congress has taken Telangana very seriously!
