Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, a recent survey by the Poll Strategy Group reveals that the YCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) holds. A significant advantage with a vote share of 49%, while the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and Janasena trail behind at 41%. Other parties secure a meager 10% of the votes.
When asked about their preferred Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, 56% of participants favored Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy from the YCP, while 37% supported TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu. Only 7% expressed their preference for Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. This suggests that even in an alliance between TDP and Janasena, they would be unable to overcome the YCP’s popularity.
Regarding Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s governance, 56% of the electorate rated it as good, with 9% considering it very good. However, 22% found it to be bad, while 8% deemed it very bad, and 3% had no specific opinion. The YCP’s focus on welfare and development programs has resonated with voters, particularly among the economically disadvantaged who have benefited from the Navaratnalu schemes. Many of them consider Jagan as part of their own families.
However, a separate survey by Mouth Opinion in urban areas suggests that the TDP is gaining ground there, even among daily wage laborers. This contradicts the YCP’s claim of being a pro-poor government. Moreover, those advocating for a capital city for the state also show a preference for the TDP. While some surveys give the TDP an advantage, others predict the YCP’s victory. The final outcome of the elections remains to be seen as the political landscape unfolds in the coming days.
