A number of MLAs and ministers in the YCP government find themselves in a precarious position as they face growing resentment from the public due to a perceived disconnect. Their close association with Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has not translated into a strong rapport with the people, as evidenced during the recent Gadapa Gadapaku program where they attempted to explain welfare schemes and review their implementation.
Several leaders, including former Deputy CM Pushpa Srivani, former minister Perni Nani, minister Narayana Swamy, minister Amarnath, Ambati Rambabu, and a few other MLAs, have been confronted by villagers who expressed their discontent. The public has criticized these leaders for neglecting to visit them over the past four years and only appearing promptly before elections.
The question arises as to whether these leaders, who are facing public resentment, can be excluded from future elections. The answer is likely negative since they need to be considered for their representation of specific communities and to maintain a balance in social equations.
Among the MLAs facing public scrutiny are former minister Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao, representing Vijayawada West, as well as Gadikota Srikanth Reddy from Rayachoti, Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy from Proddutur, and several others. The future actions of Chief Minister Jagan in dealing with these leaders, who have a close relationship with him but not with the people, remain to be seen.
