Vijay Deverakonda had high expectations for “Kushi,” a film that held promise with its star-studded cast of Vijay, Samantha, and director Siva Nirvana, along with the dependable family drama theme.
“Kushi” made a decent opening at the Tollywood box office and had a fairly strong first weekend. It had already crossed the profit mark in the USA and was close to breaking even in the Nizam region. These were respectable numbers in these key territories.
However, the film needed a strong second-week performance to reach its overall breakeven point, which, unfortunately, now seems highly unlikely.
The new releases, “Jawan” and “Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty,” have started exceptionally well. “Jawan” is dominating the mass circuits in the Telugu state, while “Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty” is gaining significant traction in multiplexes.
“Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty” serves as a direct competitor to “Kushi” and offers a more engaging entertainment factor. This essentially means that “Kushi” is no longer the preferred choice for the majority of Telugu audiences. As a result, any lingering hopes of breaking even in all territories have now been completely dashed.
