In recent times, there has been a noticeable increase in drug-related cases and controversies involving film celebrities. Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar found herself in a similar situation when her former manager, Adilingam, was arrested in a drugs peddling case in Tamil Nadu. There were also reports suggesting that Varalaxmi received notices from the NIA (National Investigation Agency) to appear for questioning in the drugs case. However, the actress later refuted these claims.
Recently, Varalaxmi addressed the Telugu media for the first time since the drugs issue came to light and here’s what she had to say:
“I have no connection to the drugs case. The individual in question was a freelance manager who worked with me during the time I was shooting for the film ‘Sarkar.’ He facilitated a couple of film projects for me, which I accepted. I cannot be held responsible for his personal life or activities. I have no association with him whatsoever.”
She further commented, “If the news had reported that the said individual was arrested in a drugs case, it would not have garnered much attention. However, when they frame it as ‘Varalaxmi’s manager,’ it becomes sensationalized. The media has amplified the case beyond its actual significance.”
