The 95th Oscar Awards have brought a delightful triumph for India as the short documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ has been crowned with the Best Documentary Short Film award.
Pedro Pascal had the honour of presenting the esteemed award, as ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ was pitted against other accomplished documentaries, including ‘Haulout’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year?’, ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect’, and ‘Stranger at the Gate’.
Director Kartiki Gonsalves and producer Guneet Monga were elated to receive the accolade, with Kartiki expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Academy Awards for acknowledging their contribution to the film industry. She spoke eloquently about the film, emphasizing that it stands for the beauty of coexistence.
‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is a poignant portrayal of the heartwarming relationship that blossoms between a couple and an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu, whom they take under their wing.
