It has been quite some time since a Telugu comedy series has been released on an OTT platform. The latest one, “Save The Tigers” starring Priyadarshi, Abhinav Gomatam, and Krishna Chaitanya in the lead roles, has premiered on Disney Plus Hotstar today. Let’s take a closer look at the series.

Story: “Save The Tigers” revolves around Ghanta Ravi (played by Priyadarshi), a dairy farm owner, Rahul (played by Abhinav Gomatam), an aspiring writer, and Vikram (played by Krishna Chaitanya), a creative ad writer, who become friends by chance. The three men have one thing in common – they are all frustrated with their wives’ behavior. The trio ends up getting arrested in a Drunk and Drive case, and it is revealed that a noted actress has been kidnapped. Are they involved in her disappearance? Why did they drink? Is it because of their wives? What’s the reason behind the trio calling themselves Tigers? All these questions are answered in the series.

Positives: The six-episode series is all about the relationships between three frustrated men and their wives. Priyadarshi-Sujatha, Pavani Gangireddy-Abhinav Gomatam, and Krishna Chaitanya-Deviyani performed well in their respective roles. Abhinav Gomatam deserves special mention for his impressive comedy timing throughout the series. Priyadarshi, playing a milk vendor, and Krishna Chaitnya, playing an ad writer, also did a great job.

Pavani Gangireddy, playing an understanding and supportive wife, and Deviyani, playing a feminist, performed their roles well. Jordar Sujatha was also good in her role as a nagging wife. Jabardasth fame Rohini’s role as a maid generated a lot of laughs, particularly in her scenes with Abhinav.

The first three episodes are filled with humorous moments that leave viewers wanting more. The next three episodes focus more on the emotional and thought-provoking moments between husbands and wives, but still manage to keep it light-hearted. The show creators, Mahi V Raghav and Pradeep Advaitham, deserve credit for bringing a series that can be watched by the entire family.

The comedy scenes and their execution are the biggest strengths of the series. Director Teja Kakumanu succeeds in narrating the story with humor, without making it too serious.

The bar scene, where Krishna Chaitanya vents out his frustration about married women’s behavior, and some fun moments between the couples are relatable and will surely connect with the majority of married viewers.

Negatives: The quote “Where drama begins, the logic ends!” perfectly fits this series. Trying to find logic in the story can make it hard to enjoy the series, and that’s why the filmmakers have taken cinematic liberties.

The story is quite simple and lacks depth, but the humor compensates for it.

The last episode is a bit of a letdown after the five entertaining ones. It could have been written better.

The three characters played by Gangavva, Venu Yeldandi, and Yadhav could have been better developed and given more screen time.

Verdict: Overall, “Save The Tigers” is a hilarious series that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The performances by Priyadarshi, Abhinav Gomatam, and Krishna Chaitanya are noteworthy, and the comedy scenes will keep you entertained throughout. Despite a few flaws and a simple story, it’s definitely worth a watch this weekend.
