Starring: Raghava Lawrence, Sarath Kumar, Priya Bhavani Shankar & Others
Director: Kathiresan
Producer: Kathiresan
Music Director: GV Prakash Kumar

Actor Raghava Lawrence has made a comeback with the mass action drama, Rudhran, after a gap of 4 years. The movie, which has been dubbed in Telugu as Rudhrudu, is directed by debutant S Kathiresan and has been released in theatres today. Stay tuned to find out how the movie has fared.

Story: The story of Rudhran revolves around the protagonist Rudhra, played by Raghava Lawrence, who lives a happy life with his parents, Devaraju and Indrani, portrayed by Nassar and Poornima Bhagyaraj respectively. Rudhra falls in love with Ananya, played by Priya Bhavani Shankar, and they get married. However, financial problems plague his family, leading Rudhra to leave for London to address the issues. During his absence, his mother passes away and Ananya goes missing, leaving Rudhra devastated.

Upon returning home, Rudhra sets out to uncover the truth behind his mother’s death and Ananya’s disappearance. Along the way, he encounters Bhoomi, played by Sarathkumar, whose role in the story becomes apparent as the plot progresses. The film explores Rudhra’s journey as he seeks answers and takes action to uncover the mysteries surrounding his loved ones.

Plus Points: Raghava Lawrence has made a strong comeback with his latest mass action entertainer which has all the ingredients to satisfy the cravings of mass audiences. Lawrence shines in the role of Rudhra, showcasing his trademark comedy timing, dance moves, and raw intensity in action sequences, making it a treat to watch him on the big screen.

Although Priya Bhavani Shankar has limited screen time, she manages to leave a lasting impression, especially in the first half, and her chemistry with Lawrence is a delight to watch.

The second half of the film is the film’s biggest highlight, packed with emotional moments and high-octane action scenes that are sure to entertain the general audience. The climax is well executed and leaves a powerful message.

Minus Points: The film falls short in terms of its plot and predictability. The story follows a standard revenge drama template that lacks any intriguing twists and turns, leaving a little surprise for audiences. The writer should have taken more risks to make the plot more captivating.

Despite a lackluster first half that leaves viewers questioning the film’s direction, the second half improves significantly, offering more clarity on the director’s vision. Unfortunately, the characterizations suffer from weak writing, with missed opportunities to showcase more emotional scenes between Lawrence and Nassar in the first half and give more power to Sarathkumar’s character.

Verdict: Overall, Rudhra, starring Raghava Lawrence, is an average action drama that has some enjoyable moments. Lawrence’s acting skills, the emotional scenes, and the climax are the film’s strengths. However, the story and screenplay are quite predictable and fail to offer anything new or intriguing. The lack of emphasis on character development is another drawback. Although the movie may not cater to all types of audiences, it can still provide an entertaining experience for mass viewers over the weekend.
