Ram Pothineni’s ‘Red’ would have released this summer if it wasn’t for Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Ever since, Ram, and the producers have been patiently waiting for theaters to re-open and even snubbed a few offers from OTT platforms.
Thanks to the unlock 5.0 regulations, Ram’s long wait might be coming to an end sooner than later. The central government has permitted the re-opening of movie theaters from October 15th albeit with a condition that they should operate with 50% capacity.
Reportedly, the makers of Ram’s Red are planning to release the film this diwali season if theaters are allowed to operate in the twin Telugu states. The final call will be taken after the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana pass relevant orders on movie theaters and multiplex operations.
Ram persisted on theatrical release for Red despite a prolonged delay and he would be happy with the newly passed unlock 5.0 regulations.
If the situation permits, Ram’s Red might be out in the second week of November. The film was directed by Kishore Tirumala. Sravanthi Ravikishore bankrolled it.
