After facing back-to-back major failures with ‘Bhola Shankar’ and ‘Bro,’ it seemed unlikely that any popular star would risk doing a remake in the near future.
However, Akkineni Nagarjuna surprised everyone by reportedly taking on the remake of a Malayalam film. The Telugu version, titled ‘Naa Saami Ranga,’ was announced for release during the Sankranthi festival, and a teaser video was unveiled recently.
Interestingly, they made sure to remove the original Malayalam movie, ‘Porinju Mariam Jose,’ from Amazon Prime Video in India and the US. This decision makes sense, as people would naturally prefer to watch the original version.
The specifics of their arrangement with Amazon Prime to facilitate this removal are unknown. Nonetheless, this move comes at a cost, considering that the streaming rights for the Malayalam film were already acquired by the platform.
Undoubtedly, taking on another remake at this juncture is a daring move. The upcoming Sankranthi festival and any potential alterations to the original could play a role in this. Fortunately, not many Telugu viewers have seen the original film ‘Porinju Mariam Jose.’
