Cast: Nithiin, Krithi Shetty, Vennela Kishore, Catherine Treas, Samuthirakhani and others
Director: M.S. Rajasekhar Reddy
Producer: Nithin
Nithin, the Tollywood young hero who delivered 3 successive hits with Jayam, Dil, and Jayam was appreciated for his boy-next-door looks. However, he wanted to prove himself as a mass hero and tried in several movies. But, all the movies have tanked at the box office leaving him depressed and helpless. After a decade-long slump, Nithin bounced back with Ishq, a romantic entertainer followed by a few more hits like Gundejaari Gallanthainde, and Aa Aa.
After the decent success of Bheesma, Nithin had two releases Rang De and Maestro which did decent business. Once again, Nithin is trying to fulfill his dream to prove himself as a mass hero and came up with the Macherla Niyojakavargam movie which was released today. Let’s see what the movie is all about and whether Nithin can fulfill his dream or not.
Story:
Rajappa (Samuthirakhani) is a powerful and cruel leader in Macherla constituency. He acts like a dictator and doesn’t allow any other to oppose him in the elections. With no opposition, he gets elected unanimously for several terms. But, a young and dynamic IAS officer Sidhu (Nithin) challenges him. What are the consequences Sidhu faces in this war with the corrupt and powerful leader is the rest of the story.
Analysis:
Debutant director M.S. Rajasekhar Reddy has chosen a regular and tested formula for his first film. The movie’s plot is quite routine and doesn’t offer anything new as we have seen such stories several times before. Though many directors take routine stories, they present them in a different way which makes them successful. However, the director fails big time in this aspect.
The entire first half runs on outdated comedy scenes on Vennela Kishore and a few romantic scenes. Even the interval episode is expected and no surprise element. Though the second half is a bit better than the first half, it’s again a predictable plot.
Highlights:
Jathara Fight
Ranu Ranu song
Drawbacks:
Outdated story and treatment
First Half
Excessive cringe comedy
Verdict:
On the whole, Macherla Niyojakavargam is an age-old, predictable action drama that offers nothing new and disappoints big time. Even the core mass movie lovers won’t love this movie. A thorough disappointment.
