The last few months have been the saddest months for the Telugu film industry. In a short span, Tollywood has lost legends like Krishnam Raju, Krishna, Satyanarayana, Chalapathi Rao, Jamuna, and K. Vishwanath. Today, Tollywood lost yet another legend. The award-winning singer Vani Jayaram breathed her last earlier today in Chennai.
According to the reports, Vani Jayaram died at her home after suffering from a head injury. She was 78. More details about her death are yet to be announced.
Vani Jayaram worked in various languages like Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Urdu, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tulu, and Oriya. In a career spanning over five decades, she recorded more than 10,000 songs.
Vani Jayaram was the recipient of three Filmfare Awards, three National Awards, and various state awards in Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. The government of India recently announced the third highest civilian award in the country, Padma Bhushan, to Vani Jayaram.
