KTR’s Stronghold Under Threat, Konda Surekha’s Play For Siricilla Victory?

In certain assembly constituencies in Telangana, such as Gajwel, Siricilla, and Siddipet. The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has shown invincibility due to strong leaders like K Chandrasekhar Rao, K T Rama Rao, and T Harish Rao. However, journalist and political activist Teenmaar Mallanna suggests that defeating K T Rama Rao (KTR) in Siricilla might be possible.

He proposes that if the Congress party fields Konda Surekha, a firebrand leader belonging to the Padmasali weavers’ community, she could potentially secure victory against KTR. Mallanna’s reasoning is based on the significant presence of Padmasali and Munnuru Kapu voters in Siricilla, with over 90,000 and 30,000 votes respectively.

Konda Surekha belongs to the Padmasali community, and her husband Konda Murali is from the Munnuru Kapu community, allowing her to tap into both groups’ support. Mallanna argues that Surekha could also attract votes from other backward caste (BC), scheduled caste (SC), and scheduled tribe (ST) communities.

He suggests that the Congress should replace its regular candidate, K K Mahender Reddy, with Konda Surekha, potentially leveraging the support of diverse communities to challenge KTR’s stronghold and break the TRS’s dominance in Siricilla.
