Remember the fringe organisation that created a ruckus before the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. At the time, The Rajput Karni Sena refused to see reason even after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film to be screened.
For several months, Karni Sena made headlines for creating violence and damaging public property in north and western parts of India. Their contention was that Rajput queen Rani Padmaavati was being shown in poor light. However, many felt, this was a purely attention-seeking activity from the fringe organisation, which was not heard of on national stage ever before.
But, the issue eventually subsided, Padmaavat got released to packed houses and the rest as they say is history.
Now, with ‘love jihad’ trending all over India and opinions and counter-opinions being written and spoken about, looks like The Rajput Karni Sena has found a new reason to create trouble.
The organisation has now set its eyes on Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 14. In one of the recent episodes, Eijay Khan kisses Pavitra Punia and this was reason enough to awaken the Karni forces. In fact, Eijaz and Pavitra had shared hugs quite a few times on the show. But this time, it was a kiss on the cheek and off went Karni Sena.
Pavitra is a Hindu and Eijaz happens to be a Muslim. The Karni Sena has accused the show and its makers Colors TV of spreading vulgarity and hurting the sentiments of the country. They followed it up by saying that the intimate scenes were highly objectionable. They added that the reality show was promoting Love Jihad which was highly unacceptable.
Initially, when Bigg Boss 14 started, a section of netizens demanded to suspend the show as Salman Khan was a product of nepotism.
This time, the problem arose from Karni Sena who have declared that they will take to social media and even streets if need be, to oppose the show.
