Amala Akkineni, the wife of Nagarjuna and mother of Akhil Akkineni was once a leading heroine in Tamil and Telugu back in the 1980s and 90s. Amala, who made her debut with T. Rajender’s Mythili Ennai Kadhali became an overnight sensation and acted in several super hits later.
However, after marrying Nagarjuna Amala has quit acting and got busy with Blue cross activities. Though Amala is a popular name, not many knew about her parents and her upbringing. Amala’s father was a Bengali. He was a Navy officer and her mother is an Irish woman.
