YS Jagan, the Chief Minister, recently made headlines when he visited his own constituency, Pulivendula, for three consecutive days after a four-year absence. During his visit, Jagan primarily focused on meeting YSRCP party leaders at the Mandal level to discuss their concerns and understand the reasons behind the opposition party, TDP’s, success in the Graduate elections in the Pulivendula segment.
Additionally, he had unusual meetings with the counselors of the Pulivendula Municipality. The reason behind Jagan’s sudden interest in Pulivendula seems to be related to an I-PAC survey. During a recent meeting with the I-PAC team, they indirectly cautioned Jagan about a potential decline in his party’s majority in Pulivendula during the upcoming 2024 elections.
This revelation has made Jagan alert and concerned about the support his uncle, YS Vivekananda Reddy, had enjoyed in the area. Viveka had a strong connection with the common people and actively addressed their concerns during his tenure as the MLA. However, after Viveka’s passing, Bhaskar Reddy took over his role in Pulivendula but has also become inaccessible to the local population.
These recent events have further heightened Jagan’s concerns and prompted his visit to Pulivendula. Jagan’s visit to his constituency after such a long absence, coupled with his focus on understanding the changing political dynamics in Pulivendula, indicates his growing apprehension and desire to address the declining support for his party in the region.
