The political temperature in Telangana has soared as the impending elections draw closer, just a mere 15 days away. Parties and candidates are going all out in their efforts to appeal to the voters, utilizing public meetings and vigorous social media campaigns to leave no stone unturned. However, recent actions by the Election Commission have thrown a wrench into the plans of some parties by banning certain ads and issuing notices to the concerned parties. This unexpected move disrupted the strategies designed to capture people’s attention.
Amidst this election fervor, attention is centered on two third-generation political scions emerging from different backgrounds. Parnika Reddy, belonging to the Chittem family, aspires to continue her grandfather Narsi Reddy’s political legacy. She’s preparing to contest from the Narayanpet seat, a stronghold of her late grandfather who served as an MLA several times. Unfortunately, Narsi Reddy fell victim to a fatal Naxal attack in 2005, where he and eight others, including his son, lost their lives.
Another contender is Pranav Vodithala, whose grandfather was a former MP. Pranav is entering the intense competition in the Huzurabad seat, challenging prominent leaders. This includes the BJP’s candidate Etela Rajender, who switched from the BRS party and won the by-election. Pranav, on the other hand, is representing the Congress.
The Vodithala family, known in Telangana’s political circles, has a legacy with Pranav’s grandfather, V. Rajeshwar Rao, being an MP and an active participant in the Telangana movement. Despite the family’s ties, Pranav chose to align with the Congress for his candidacy in Huzurabad. In this high-stakes political scenario, these third-generation leaders are making waves amidst established political figures, striving to carve their paths in the upcoming elections.
