The surge in cyber fraud incidents is concerning, targeting not just ordinary individuals but occasionally even celebrities, as seen in the case of Bollywood actress Anjali Patil. Known for her roles in movies like “Kaala” and “Naa Bangaru Thalli,” she fell victim to a brief but deceptive drug bust scam, losing Rs 5.79 lakh. It began with a call from a purported employee of a logistics and transport company, claiming her Aadhar details were linked to a drug packet bound for Taiwan.
Another individual posing as a cyber police officer further entangled her in a fabricated drug bust scenario, coercing the actress to pay the sum to resolve the situation. Once the money exchanged hands, the perpetrator ceased communication. Anjali Patil reported the incident to DN Nagar police, who have initiated a case and are actively pursuing the culprits behind this fraudulent scheme.
