Actress Zareen Khan has recently been granted interim bail by a city court in connection to a 2018 cheating case registered at Narkeldanga police station in Kolkata. The court has restricted her international travel without prior permission. The latest update reveals that she has been granted bail till December 26 by the Sealdah court on a personal bond of Rs. 30,000.
The case revolves around an alleged incident where Zareen Khan was expected to perform during a Durga Puja celebration in Kolkata but reportedly didn’t show up. This led to a formal complaint of cheating filed against her and her manager by the event organizers. An FIR was lodged against them, resulting in the recent legal proceedings.
Zareen Khan’s defense has highlighted that she was misled by the event organizers regarding the nature of the event, which was portrayed as a prestigious gathering attended by notable personalities, including the Chief Minister of Bengal. She cited misunderstandings regarding travel and accommodations as contributing factors to her unexpected absence.
Earlier in September 2023, an arrest warrant had been issued due to her repeated absence from court proceedings.
