Recently, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a significant announcement during his visit to Vishakapatnam. Expressing his intention to shift to the city by December and transform its destiny, promising to turn it into an IT hub. However, critics argue that his words may be more about political posturing than actual action.
They claim that during his four and a half years in power, Jagan’s focus has primarily been on offering freebies rather than addressing crucial issues like the IT sector’s growth in Vishakapatnam. In Vishakapatnam, there are currently eighty six small and medium IT companies. During the previous government led by Chandrababu Naidu, these companies were incentivized to set up operations in the city.
However, these incentives have remained unpaid since Jagan took office. The total pending dues amount to just 22 Crore Rupees, but it appears that Jagan’s priorities lie elsewhere, leaving these companies in a lurch. Even global IT giant Infosys, which established a presence in Vishakapatnam, did not receive any incentives from the Jagan Government.
They opted to lease a private building due to the lack of favorable terms in government-owned spaces. Critics argue that Jagan’s sudden enthusiasm for the IT sector in Vishakapatnam appears to be a political move, as his actions do not align with his rhetoric, leaving businesses and citizens questioning his commitment to fostering growth in the city.
