The story behind Chiru, Nag, Venky Multistarrer

Multistarrer  : Multistarrer movies always gives the much needed hype as the movie lovers get to see two or more superstars in the same frame. Though Bollywood has been making multistarrer movies since ages, Tollywood seems quite adamant towards these multistarrers especially during the 1990s.

Though the first generation superstars ANR, and NTR, followed by Krishna, Krishanm Raju and Shoban Babu have acted in several movies together, the multistarrers have diminished in the 1990s when Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and Balakrishna were ruling the box-office.

The fans and movie lovers were eager to watch any of these two superstars in a movie, a few directors tried but nothing was materialized. However, in early 2000s senior director K. Raghavendra Rao tried to rope in Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Venkatesh for a multistarrer titled Triveni Sanghamam.

As it was Raghavendra Rao’s 100th movie, he wanted it to be special and approached the heroes. Though they were ready to do a multistarrer, the project got shelved due to some unknown reasons.

After a gap of over 2 decades, Venkatesh has revived the long forgotten multistarrer trend in Tollywood with Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and the trend is continuing. Let’s hope to see many more such multistarrers in the future.
