As if heavy rains are not enough, residents of Gachibowli, Hyderabad woke up to a shock that tremors were experienced three times on Wednesday.
Popular scientist Dr.Sri Nagesh confirmed that the epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
The earthquakes in Gachibowli were confirmed by the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI). Dr. Sri Nagesh who visited TNGO colony near Kokapet said ” A centre has been established at Borabanda after tremors were noticed and from then on we have been monitoring the situation. From this centre, we found out tremors at Gachibowli.”
He said an earthquake center has been set up in the area and another center has been set up at IIIT for further study. A third is also said to be set up. Scientists say the quakes were caused by an adjustment in the earth’s crust following recent heavy rains in the city.
