In fact, the Wistron project has been looked upon as a success story in Prime Minister Modi’s “Make in India” thrust to boost manufacturing in the country.

PM is very much worried about Wistron incident

So, now comes the news that Prime Minister Modi is “very much worried” due to the violence that happened at the iphone factory. This was revealed by Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa today.

It is known that hundreds of workers had destroyed the premises and broke many iphones, laptops and lockers of employees. As per latest reports, the company has put the losses at $7 million. Nearly 160 people were arrested regarding the case and the police said they were on the lookout for people who sparked the armed protest.

“It is a very important foreign company and this should not have happened. The PM is also very much worried about this development,” Yediyurappa told the media. He further shared that their government has told the company that such incidents will not be repeated in future. He added that they will give full support to the company.

The workers ire was due to non-payment of wages and demand for better working hours.

From their side, Apple is investigating the incident and is checking if the company in question adhered to the labour rules.
