King Akkineni Nagarjuna has carried forward the legacy left by his father legendary ANR and is still considered one of the biggest superstars of Telugu cinema. Nagarjuna has acted in many commercial super hits but very less of the critically acclaimed movie.
One such critically acclaimed movie in the initial stages of his career is Sankeerthana directed by Geetha Krishna. In a recent interview, the director revealed that the movie received huge applause and was supposed to get a national award. However, the central government (Congress) which was against the ruling party in AP led by NTR has stopped giving awards to Telugu cinemas for a few years.
Indirectly, because of NTR who was the biggest superstar of Telugu cinema during the 60s and 70s, Nagarjuna missed his national award for the movie. On the work front, Nagarjuna is waiting for the release of his upcoming action drama Ghost directed by Praveen Sattaru.
