Koratala Siva is one of the most reliable directors in Tollywood until Acharya happened. All his four movies Mirchi, Srimanthudu, Janatha Garage and Bharat Ane Nenu were big commercial hits. Obviously, the expectations have mounted up on the mega multistarrer Acharya. But, to everyone’s rude shock, the movie became an outright disaster leaving the distributors in huge losses.
Though Ram Charan’s ‘Konidela Productions’ associated in production, the real fact is that neither Ram Charan nor Chiranjeevi had invested any money, but just for the branding sake, their production was linked to the movie. It was Nirajan Reddy who invested the money and kept the entire onus on Koratala Siva before the release.
Now, with the movie turning out into a colossal dud, all the distributors are making life tough for Koratala Siva. Though he settled amounts for some of them, ceded distributors are pressurizing Koratala. Mythri Movie Makers Naveen Yerneni who shares close bonding with Koratala Siva tried to pacify the buyers and exhibitors but they demand a word from Koratala Siva directly.
The ceded distributor Abhishek, and financier Sobhan slept in Koratala’s office demanding Siva and his friend Sudhakar settle the matter ASAP. As per the rule, the producers should repay the distributors some amount if the film could not recover even 40 percent.
The highly anticipated Acharya was a disaster in all regions. The losses for the Ceded region are in the range of Rs 15 crore.
